Leroy Rountree Hassell, Jr. (1955-2011) was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia from 2003 to 2011. He was appointed to the court in 1989. The Supreme Court of Appeals of Virginia was created by an act of the new General Assembly in 1779.
